old love

It felt so strange standing there
  knocking on your door,
the same door i had opened
  so many times before.
You ushered me in-showed me to a seat
as if i needed an escort,
we sat and talked over a dining table
  i had actually bought.

When we split a year ago
i headed for the European sun
not to dwell on what had ended
but on what had just begun.
So why was i back here then
showing you all of my photo's,
you had said to come on over
  why?Only heaven knows.

I showed you photo's of Ireland
as we listened to the Frames cd,
i showed you a photo of a girl
who broke my heart in Italy.
All you said was she looks nice
  reminds me of your sister
as i stared at the photo
  i realised that i missed i her.
