Cherub Retriever
Dead beat cherub floating out carelessly
Listening to the Cheers theme ringing in his ears and lamenting
A dribble of saliva is forced to run down his chin with the quiver
The lonely flapping sound of wings against the air is deafening
And the placement of clouds is all too deliberate today
With the hammer pulled back he awaits the blast to send him packing
A camouflaged man kneeling just yards below
Sends a shot of his own into the sky
The lifeless body drops swiftly to the ground
Quickly retrieved by the hound and carried in the jaws of defeat
