The Pop Star
We met when we were quite young
you and I, we wandered the music
clubs, danced and talked till dawns
early light. Your long flowing hair
beautiful, and your voice music
to my ears. You said you had a band
with your brother, I told you, tell him
let you sing, the sound of your voice
magic itself. You smiled and kissed
me tenderly. I won’t kiss and tell
anymore, but it’s strange to think that
when you called back, I didn’t go
out with you again. Now watching
you, millions of women screaming,
when you sing, makes me smile.
My mom and sister listen to you all
the time. Me, well, I have one cd.
I still like the sound of your voice, but
it’s just not my style, I guess it wasn’t
back then either. I still have the memory,
it will make me smile when I’m 80.
