If you ever have need, I will be there.
I was told so long ago
in an age of dreams in wait,
promises so easy to keep
when life was still to live,
cares for future not ready to have.
The pain that followed fresh, clean.
Betrayal so new, so very sharp.
Yet so many years later
I still remember the feel
of words so heart felt said
when once I needed them most.
