He cares for her, truly, deeply.
More than she wants to know, or let in.
To have her hand is one thing,
But to have her heart is what he truly desires.

He knew getting involved with her;
That this is not what she wanted,
But he can't help but think
What they could be A different place, a different time.

Her heart belongs to another man,
With whom she loves more than anything.
There is nothing he wouldn't do, or wouldn't give
To be that man.

She thinks he's crazy,
Doesn't even know who she really is,
But he knows all he needs to know about her;
He knows he cares for her, maybe more than he should.

He is afraid of what she might say,
Afraid of what she might do;
So, he hides it from her, from the world.

The worst thing she can do is leave his life,
And that's not what he wants,
But he can't help but feel something more for her.

He knows he is somewhat inferior to her,
And that he doesn't deserve her.
He wonders why he even tries, but his heart won't let him stop.
He prays to God that somehow things could be different.
If he could only be older, wiser.

He wonders how she feels, what she's thinking.
He would give anything to know.
He's afraid of what she might say, what she will probably say.
Rather than take a chance, it will never be answered.

So he lives his life in regret,
Never taking the chance because of fear.
There's so much that could go wrong,
And the last thing he wants is a broken heart.

Insatiable desire, he knew it coming in,
But somehow he just thought things could be different.
That this girl, could somehow fall for him.
