Peggy's Cove
Boulders perched on the rugged terrain
Like eagles on their riverfront lot
Looking out into the water
From a vantage point that makes the earth jealous.
Jealous vapor snatches away the sun
Leaving us, moistened petals,
To cling unknowingly together.
Time tastes salty and lingers on my lips.
I taste bits of today
Subtly flavored by yesterday
And I am almost sure there is a pinch of tomorrow.
Our path is uncertain.
Even to get to the boulder
You and I take different routes.
You bravely climb steeper slopes
While I take longer routes
And notice stripes of ore and seaweed.
Skies sigh, relieved, as we walk away.
Airy nudges prod us along
And fill us with a calm that induces sleep.
