The puzzle

A Puzzle...

The great enigma that is love
The dangerous hawk or peaceful dove
Will you drown, or rise above
What holds this puzzle in its store?

The greatest thrills could be revealed
Or greatest fears best left concealed
Could your sentence be repealed
Or will you do the time?

Remember back when pulse was pounding
The telephone’s ring, or doorbell’s sounding
Rushing down stairs and corners rounding
Is meeting still the same?

Sweeping tides we call emotions
Carving dangerous cliffs o’er deepest oceans
A safety net of mutual devotions
Is it strong enough to hold?

With every puzzle there are pieces
A perfect picture yet with its creases
As the final piece your hand releases
What image did the puzzle hold in its store?
