Requiem Amo

When I have spun the night around
and tracked the indifferent moon
between the spaces
of the window blinds
once more
I will rise
and go forth again.

I will descend at last
into the valley
existing in each man's heart
to that dark meadow
where the cairn will be built.

I will empty my useless rage
into the river there
and wring my soul
until the canyons of the world
are rocked with the cries
and the peaks are scaled
by the echoes
of my screams.

I will place each stoney word
of uncaring tounges
upon this mound of greif
until this heart is silent
at last.

When I rise
to ascend again
into the world
do not ask for mercy
do not plead for peace
for those who know
the making of this broken love
will know the anger of the angels
in this world and the next
and I
will turn indifferent ears
to their damnation.

Spin on
oh night
my tears are dry
spin on.
