if these walls could talk

If these walls could talk they’d remind me of you all the time…
They’d talk about how you laugh, how you sing, how you hold me tight…
They’d remember how you say, “Oh, ye of little faith”,
Each time I suspect you of something you didn’t even do.
(You are just too cute to trust...)

Oh, these walls would laugh, they’d sing for joy just thinking of your smile
They’d celebrate you and fall in love with you and wish to see you again…
They’d want your picture painted all over them, in every colour, everywhere…
They’d want you here everyday just to be able to hear your voice
Suddenly low, suddenly loud, suddenly husky with love…

If these walls could talk, they’d express their surprise
At how much you eat when you come over, acting half starved,
Just so I’d make you all the things you like to eat.
They’d ask me why you’re always so happy, so free, so on top of the world…
They’d wonder why no one else is as perfect as you…

If these walls could talk, I don’t think they’d shut up about you…
