It Might Have Been

Of all the sad words
Written by pen
Or spoken by tongue
These are the saddest
"It might have been"

I would have loved you
I would have loved you like no other person here on earth or in heaven
My love would have been so strong and so deep
But alas
All I can say is
"It might have been"

Together we could have shared in our dreams
Shared in our inspirations
Shared in joy with one another
Shared in times of tribulation and rejoice
We could have shared and offered each other so much
In a special friendship
And
In love
Shared a love that would have been so strong
And
Unbreakable
But...
All we can say is
"It might have been"

A part of you would have grown on me you see
It would have been you and me 
Together forever 
And
 Never apart
Maybe in distance 
But 
Never in heart
But now
All we can say is
"It might have been"

It might have been love
It might have been strong
It might have been real love all along
It might have been you
It might have been me
It might have been us
Together forever in our hearts
Two hears becoming one
One soul split into two
But
Now all we have left to say is
