Lost in Thoughts of You
Lost in thought
I look down to see what my hands have created
As my mind was unaware
And it is not very surprising to see the page below
Filled with hearts and cupid arrows
All with your name inside
And colored bright red, trimmed in blue.
I have another admission to make
When you called last Saturday
And I was gone
I saved the answering machine tape
Its in my car,
When I leave for work every day
And start home every afternoon
I can hear your musical voice
And right in the middle
Hear you laugh out loud
And lord, how that thrills me so
I copied all your poetry today
And filed each one by body part
The ones about lips are my favorite I think
Because I can close my eyes and imagine those shiny lips
Touching mine
Every minute of every day of every week of every year forever.
And I imagine it is my finger tracing your mouth
Chin to cheek to nose to lips.
Tracing the path of my heart's golden desire.
And to be honest
I dreamed about you last night
As I did the night before and the one before and the one before that
And in that dream last night
And the night before
And the one before that.
I ended by sucking your toes.
As sweet as strawberries
And soft as a ripe peach.
But sexy as sexy can be in candyapple red.
Painted just for me.
And Pookie-Bear
At night I go outside and lay on the grass
Look up at the stars in the night sky
Say their name
One by one by one
Because long ago I named them all
With your sweet name
So now I can lay here
And whisper that name
Over and over and over again
Echoing through my mind
Where you are now
And I am
Lost in thought
Of my Pookie-Bear
Once again.
