Maybe

There are too many 'maybe's'
In this god-forsaken world
'Maybe' this and maybe that
'Maybe' I'll love you, 'maybe' I won't
There are too many 'if's' and 'when's'
Too many 'and's', 'or's', and 'but's'
It's just too much and too often
That things can change
That things have the option
Of going wrong
There is too much doubt in all of us
We are rarely ever certain
Because things shift and go wrong
When we least expect them too
And we fall, and fall unseen
Tripping in this darkness...
She loved him
But, he loved me
Yet, in the end, he loved us both
'Maybe' he loved me more
'Maybe' he didn't
'Maybe' I was too much, for him
'Maybe' she was the easier choice
'Maybe' he thinks I don't care
Truth is, that I do
And, 'maybe' he knows
And, 'maybe' he doesn't
And, 'maybe' someday, I'll understand
