Only a Nightmare...
My head reels
As I wake
From a sleep
That was restless
And frightening
My heart is pounding
My throat is tight
I can scarely breath
I know that it was
Just a nightmare...
Only a nightmare...
Simply a nightmare...
But, God, it was so real
And I can still feel
The remanants
Of that nightmare...
You were in trouble
In so deep
Too deep...
But, I couldn't help you
Because you refused
My outstretched hand
And you wound up
On deadly
Dangerous ground
Alone...
And so far away...
And you were struggling
Vainly
To climb out of
The mess you fell
Into
But, the more you move
The more the quicksand
Drags you down
And I couldn't help you
Because you wouldn't let me...
And, now, I wonder if
The nightmare was only echoing
The alarming truth...
