"Space Between Us"
A tide of even washes into morning coast,
I always find myself alone,
unable to own any man's heart
completely
before it drifts away.
I am left to my churning stomach and wayward heart
wondering if I send
or if they just leave.
Waves crash like my pitiful sorrows
which are tinted green as any ocean.
Alone, alone--
Even together there's this horrible distance
a space between us
which I cannot capture
as our swelling passion races to meet a rocky shore.
Once familiar eyes
gaze into mine now so strangely
when they do at all.
I turn sickly,
unable to watch your rough form
grow distant in loveless water.
