...and it all washes away
My own secret smile belies much
As the disappoitment of my heart remains hidden
Your words ring hollow in my head
As your parting
Breaks the waves of loneliness
That crash to my shore
Washing up the debris of life's moments
And as I turn away
Silently,
I can hear the crescendo of a beating heart
Troubled, yet
Vaguely remembered
As my own.
