Our Affair With Austin
The first day in Austin it rained and we
Sat in the van watching the gutters flood
Almost everything we needed was free
And our luxuries weren't written in blood
She was spread out before us with a smirk
All green and mean and bursting with flavor
We knew we'd grit our teeth to make it work
And not forget She was ours to savor
Inevitably the poison began
To seep in and kill our starry-eyed crush
Our passion somehow preceded the plan
We left before noon to avoid the rush
Now the lullabies aren't lies above the din
Our gypsy ways have led us home again.
