Beach Sand

We acted like kids
  Playing in the sand
Occasionally wrestling
  When nobody was watching
Tiring ourselves out

Then,
  Collecting seashells and
Building sand castles
  Until all we had left
Was to watch the day settle
  In the sky before us

Under the setting sun
He scrawled our names in the sand
Child-like
With a big heart around them

He stared at his art...
"If I could, I'd keep it that way
For eternity."

"Impossible, high tide is coming."

"Next time I'll use seaweed"
