saFe in the DarKneSs

no one can see the tears falling from my eyes
              as I sit here in the darkness
       with my jumbo tub of buttery popcorn
               and large Pepsi
           watching Tom Hanks on the screen
  
I know how you feel, Tom
       I know what it is to be alone
                 on an island
        maybe not literally
               but it might as well be

          but for you, Tom, it was just a movie
           you made a lot of money and may snag
                     an Oscar
   but for me
it's reality
pathetic and sad
when the movie ends
I'll still be me
          stuck in my miserable life
              alone on the heartiest day
                     of the year
