Why did you smile, like starlight, only to fade?

To hold me, like you did
You didn't have to be like that
Why did you let me cry on your shoulder
If you were just gonna make me cry, in the end
It just doesn't add up
Like when I was a kid, trying to add apples and oranges
Doesn't make any sense...
I think that's my problem, right there
I've been trying to make sense, when the whole thing is senseless
I've been looking for a logical explanation
And there is none...everything about us defied logic
And defied reason
Now, here I am sweeping up this mess, you left behind
Re-building the foundation of my life, brick by brick
Let me tell you, it isn't easy
But, things rarely are, right?
Why did you let me love you...
It just doesn't make any damn sense
