how would I know?

wisdom is not within
the purview of any goddess I know
come to think of it I know none
so how would I know?
I have read of an enchantress
in a fairy tale
whose eyes
could mesmerize
but she was only words
that formed a dream
that fired my imagination
a fog that eventually lifts
and after I find myself ground down
to bare metal again
by the rough edge of the real world
I discover a small truth
that wisdom is impossible
if you already know everything
it is only attainable by those
who wear their flaws proudly
like threadbare pajamas
that you can almost see
their wounds through
