Leaving

Sinners weep
While shadows crawl
He is fallen, from heights so high
And landed in depths so shallow...
Promises are lying cracked, on the kitchen table
As the glue is there, untouched
Trouble comes and trouble goes
But, often is a lengthy visiter...
Drowning, he is, in his regret
Choking on his constant sorrow
He wonders "what-if" and ponders that "maybe"
He's been living for the day, that he'll find his nerve
He's been yearning for the courage, to do what he dares
Leave...he wants to leave
Because his house is not a home...
And, today, he's leaving, leaving it all behind
He finally found his nerve, at random
While listening to the radio
Maybe, it was something in the song...
And he smiles, something he had almost forgotten how to do
With a light heart, he walks away from it all
Driving off, knowing where he's going
For the first time in his life
He knows where the path he walks, will lead him
And, turned to the future, he doesn't look back...
