you never loved me

you never loved me
             by kemi akande

i saw you standing there, hurt and afraid
i ran to you in your dismay
you turn from me and i began to cry
you said you wished that i would die
in my pain and unbelief i ran a thousand miles

how could you hurt me, when all i did was love you
how could you lie to me, when all i said was true
we made love, did you not feel it
i gave you my heart and now you return it
now saddenned and defiled alone i sit

we used to talk for many hours, you saw my tears, i saw your smile
we used to walk through all our turmoils we used to laugh our troubles away
now as i look behind me, i realise you will never remember those days

you never loved me.
