Neighborly love
As I lay in bed at night and I close my eyes
I hear your footsteps up the driveway,
Then the door open
Then you crawl into bed wrap your arms around me
and kiss my gently on my forehead
and whisper goodnight.
I then hear a car door shut
I look up and I see "her" walk up your driveway
Knowing You hear "her" footsteps up the driveway
Then your door open
and feel "her" crawl into your bed
I then begin to cry invisioning these things
knowing they are all true
I lay my head on the pillow again and I close my eyes
and I finish invisioning the night before
You hold me tightly and you tell me this will all
be over soon and you and I can finaly be
the couple we never could.
5 more years of restless sleep I ask, you laugh
with a sigh and look deep in my eyes and say
I know sweety but, times are so hard and I need her
for the money.
I just close my eyes and lay my head back on your chest
without another word spoken!
Thinking to myself I thought love was worth more?
But what do I know I am just the girl next door!
I then close my eyes for another sleepless night!
