lady of the lake

dying my thirst upon a mountain stream
her image on the water in the sky
breakin what was left of a fragile heart
drawing what was left of this broken soul
as the day closed itself to night
never noticed how light her touch
blinded to only her eyes
naked kiss of cooling night air
our bodies contorted entwined
how cold her flesh
how heated her insides
so many times she asked
and for each asking again i arose
till morning light broke
all that remained of her disguise
weeping i watched the earth
open to swallow her whole
with a promise for again this night
if i remain
and i will
