tears in the night

to whom may be considered
to any who may read
my heart now lost in distant past
to true to be believed
she died in the early 1800's
from consumption i am told
yet all that is left has stole my heart
forever has its hold
visited late one night
while staying in rooms of hers
was once so misty full of holes
fleshed out now with my tears
nightly comes to visit now
all my days spent in wait
her touch brings cold comfort
yet still comfort brought it does
these nights spent in cold embrace
days spent in fevered chill
have numbered my life to just a few
this i know is only true
i only hope in this my passing
to shine a light of grace for her
to bring her from this lonely place of one
to one much better for two
