My Only Truth
When I'm with you
You remind me of what is possible
Between a man and a woman
Trust
Respect
Laughter
Honesty
Friendship
Love
You are a cornerstone of the woman I am today
Had the girl I was not met you
I don't know who I would be
But I'm sure I wouldn't like her
As much as I like the me I am
And that is in no small measure due to having known you
Loved you
You are the yardstick against which I measure every man I meet
My life might shatter into shards and yet if you still lived
The world would be a just and righteous place;
If all the universe were whole and you not in it,
It would be a barren place full of strangers
Wherein I would find no peace.
No matter what others may lay claim
To my heart, my mind, my body, my soul
Yours will always take precedence
I trust you as I trust no one else
As I would trust God himself
If I believed in such a thing
But since I don't
The only truth I know is you
