On Cursing Rain

The random events of time and place
Play havoc on my brain
And I complain bitterly
About unfair twists of ironic fate
Of lovers lost
And the empty space within my soul
Either senselessly numb
Or filled with chronic pain.

And I wait in vain
For God to deal a better hand
Containing Aces back to back
As alone I face the cards I hold.

Still, I hope someday to find the strength
To find the courage and the faith
To chase down dreams of happiness
My heart is longing to obtain
Once again.
