In the parking Lot
Tears
don't glitter on asphalt.
At best
they leave
a small, dark, damp spot
to show where they have been.
So all those wonderous words
those tender sorrowful sighings
about the glittering
shimmering
tears like diamonds
really don't hold true.
At least
not from my prosective
sitting
on the sidewalk
knees too weak
heart too heavy
to bear the strain
of standing
and watching
your tail lights
disappear.
Nothing here now
to mark our time together
except an oil spot
from that damned old car
and the small
damp
spots
where the tears have fallen
and failed
to make any difference.
