Summer Warm

Time after time, I come back to this place
Just to remember that look on your face
The sun in your hair, the stars in your eyes
Nothing but rainbows, and lavender skies

You whispered so softly, I almost didn't hear
You wanted to kiss me, so I swallowed all my fear
And your kiss had all the answers, that I couldn't find
God, I must have been crazy, completly out of my mind

When the breeze blows, summer warm, I remember the taste
Of all your sweet kisses, never given in haste
And with the absence of quiet, I feel the comfort of your arms
See the flash of your smile, one of your many charms

There's a scent on the breeze, reminds me of you
Smells of copper, honey, and early morning dew
I feel your hand holding mine, even though you are gone
As I sit, in the woods, making friends with the dawn

I layed down my heart, loved one who I couldn't keep
Kissed you, yes, but never took that leap
If you had asked me, I would have, but now it's too late
The moment has passed, or so proclaims fate

I never did tell you, what you mean to me
I held back the "I love you's", because you weren't free
And the end came, the end went, with no warning at all
You left, and did not catch me, when I did fall

And, things change, as times passes, I'm not really sure why
And the rainbows are absent, as is that lavender sky
But, you kiss still remains, and the warmth of your skin
Here's to what might of happened, here's to what might have been...
