It seems that anymore I need a handy-man around more than a boyfriend.
Someone to fill in all the cracks and empty places in my broken down
heart. Who'll make putty out of my knees just by calling me "darlin'"
or "poor sweet baby." One with the finest sand paper to take away all
my hurt, fears, and regrets with just a little time and patience. The
owner of one powerful flashlight, which will only be used upon
necessity if I get lost in the darkness of everyday life. He must
have the world's longest tape measurer so we can watch our love
grow...and grow...and grow. A man who's good with a screwdriver. In
case I accidently twist his words around, and he must untwist them
again. A most unusual fellow who'd let me borrow his crowbar
every time we went out. Of course that would be to pry the women off
of him. Perhaps one who likes to paint so we can cover and forget
what's in the past. Maybe even a tool bench where we can lay
everything out when things get cluttered or confusing. But most of
all, I'd like him to have a nice, strong ladder that will last
through all the ups and downs.
