Love Of A Lifetime

I used to search for love
Not finding it, I foolishly gave up
I told myself that it didn't exsist
Nothing could change the way I felt

I had been cheated on time and agian
Every man that I cared about
Hurt me
Used me

I started questioning everything
I doubted life, family, friends, and myself
Trusting no one I continued down the path
The path of pain, darkness

Sleep became a stranger
The nights became only time to replay all of my mistakes
Moments in my life that I wanted desperatly to change
People I wanted to love once again

I thought I would stay this way forever
To die crying
To die scared
To die lonely

But I was wrong
I met you
You changed everything
You somehow made me feel alive

Out of nowhere you came to my rescue
From within the darkness
My hero emerged
I owe you everything

I had lost all sense of direction
You took my hand and gave me a compass
I had given up on dreams, the stars, the moon
You gave me peace so I could find rest

You are the one person that has never given up on me
And I would give up my life for you
After years of wondering, searching aimlessly
I have finally found all that I was looking for

I have found myself
I have found honesty
I have found loyalty
I have found the love of a lifetime
