fake
i’m a fake princess
plastic crown adored in ruby rip-off’s
making all heads turn in my pseudo-velvet robe
but i am unclean
one chapter in my life left open
pages yet to be burned
words softly spoken,
“what if we would have won?”
the stakes too high
the trump too low
the little engine that could
pulled out and went to a punk rawk show
and i feel like an old dog
played dead too many times
years wasted on too many lies
maybe that’s why it felt it could never be
maybe that’s why i lost what would become of “we”
maybe that’s why the pitter patter will never sound
maybe that’s why i’m the way i am
