"The Tennessee Waltz"
My hands move squares of material,
colors that magically waltz, searching
to find the geometric progression that
flows in light. So lovingly sewn by hand,
for ‘My Best Beloved,’ a pattern
called, “The Tennessee Waltz,”
to remind him of the woman that patiently
waits for him to come to her. Of the word
waltzes, and amazing passion shared, like
these squares sewn from cloth, to tenderly
wrap him in comfort of southern arms,
that will love, and care for him forever.
