Surf's Up
surf's up
and there's plenty of sand
so pick a spot and take a stand
if you want to watch
because you can't surf
you're gonna have to guard your turf
don't let anyone steal your Ruffles
or Pepsi or big beach ball
sit down on your blanket and pretend
you're a Barbie doll
'cause the surf's up
and here you are
you drove here in your pretty car
if you can't catch a wave
wave your hand
an avid audience is always in demand
look at 'em go
they're poetry in motion
don't you wish you could ride the ocean?
oh, but you can't
you're no surfer girl
Brian Wilson would never date you
you'd never make it to the back seat of
his woody, baby
your hair isn't soft and long
and you're wrong to think it doesn't matter
don't worry don't worry
there's a poetry bar down on the strand
melancholy wallflowers are always in demand
they'll love you somewhere
but not here
you can't surf
it's superfluous, really
look at those sharks!
surfing is silly
