Danger falls in front of me And begs me for my help Heartbreak echos in his voice Like a sirens' song... Trembling, I chose again To do what no one would I extend my hand, bringing him back To his feet... He falls down, time after time But, never before in front of me And I am in silent awe Of his sudden soul-bearing For he spoke to me, words he held inside Looking in my eyes, something flickered A sudden spark of something completly unknown And all at once, came tumbling out his heart I stood straight and still, soaking up his words My mind reeling, my heart racing, my eyes tearing For so long, he had hidden himself And when he could not hide, would run away So none would see him shadowed... But, no more hide-and-seek, he said No more secrets, no more lies He didn't want to hide from me For, he said, only I had understood him Only I had seen through his mask... And then he through himself on his knees Wrapping his arms around me, sobbing like a babe He whispering, "Oh, please...Can you...forgive me?" And, I, choking back my own tears Said, "Yes." |
