My heart's well guarded from the threats that would assail its fragile walls. It's hid in darkest gloomy shadows where not man nor beast e'er calls. No one dares to enter in and brave the maze of fear and pain. No one even knows for certain if my heart still there remains. Though sometimes, when evening winds still to a simple wisp of air The faintest sigh can bare be heard from deep within its solemn lair. "Oh let me risk myself once more for sweetest heights of boundless love" "To revel in that joy and soar untethered with the stars above" But then with anguished cry returns the memory of betrayals of yore And with that cry the raging wind resumes and shuts the fortress door. |
