As my tears fall like a childs Onto your shoulder where my head rests, I feel you breathe deep and whisper 'I love you'; With a mumbled 'shhh' to soothe my sleep, And a gentle hug to comfort my pain, Leaving nothing to be said except 'shhh' and 'I love you' again and again, Until my tears stop falling And the pain once again hides itself To submerge another day with some fresh tears. Then you wait until I'm silent to ask 'What was the matter?' But I pretend I'm sleeping so Once again I can avoid having to explain Every silly thought I have, And the fear I have of loving you this much- So deep and fast, And I hear you sigh and tell me things you never say When you think I can hear you. Once again you leave my heart warm and sure That you will never hurt me. And once again you don't even know you do it. |
