Some strive for gold and jewels rare, Still others strive for power and might, And plung the world in war's dark night To smother liberty's living flame Just to sit in a despot's chair. Where the footof man has never trod, Explorers give theeir lives to find -- What lies behind the hidden veil, Or lurks along the mystery trail That links the world and all amnkind With nature, and with nature's God. Sin always holds a hidden sting, A poisened flower who's touch is death -- While love is like the morning dew That kisses the earth and makes it new. God whispers on the zephyr's breath "Man's love for man" -- the greater thing. Sunday, July 26, 1942 |
