i was lying in bed this morning, after you had left it i moved over and encompassed the nested space feeling the sweet release of languid limbs and the soft sigh of comfort to cuddle up with your pillow then i looked over at you through the doorway with the light and fan above your head you bent earnestly over the mornings news spoon hovering inches from your mouth and my body felt suddenly empty that this pillow close to me wasn't you and the blanket keeping me warm wasn't the radiating heat from your body and the soft sound of the fan wasn't your gentle breathing in my ear and i realized how my nights could pass so quickly when my body spends its time next to you |
