Pale Smoke

I know that you think that you should come back,to try again
You get half way here, and pull over, onto the shoulder
You stop to collect your thoughts, pratice what you'll say
Spinning all those dainty sweet explanations, in your head
Thinking of every way to say 'I'm sorry'
But you are only words, there's nothing behind you
There is nothing to back up anything that you say
You're just pale smoke, drifting through thin air
It's all just glitz and glitter...
You were never really mine at all
That was just another trick of light
So, don't come around here, saying you've changed
Don't bother to pull that white rabbit out of that hat
I don't want anymore of your trickery...
You know, my mother once told me:
"Don't expect children to be men."
And you are nothing more than an overgrown child
So, unless you've relinquished the sand castles
And your heart shattering, promise breaking ways
Turn around and go back home
Go back to whomever is loving you now...
