SHADOWS ON THE HEART
Shadows on the Heart
Frail, I stumble with shallow abandon
My heartbeat slowly fading...
Because it lacks the pulse of one held dear.
Numbness flows.
I exist in somber castles,
Floating through fog...
Eyes twitching, lips tightening
My heart, encased in forced solitude.
Numbness charts course.
The bandages that once held it in check
Soon began withering, their purpose ineffective.
Crashing down, the splinters scathing
Numbness bludgeons.
Wincing within emotional chaos,
I repress the pain.
