I remember the day you told me that you could not be expected to read minds. If I wanted something, I would have to make a list. A list? Like you came with directions, Like I had not made you the research project of a lifetime? Trial and error, guessing, plain old woman's intuition to find the books you liked best, the music you enjoyed, the food you savored, your favorite wine or scotch, or the way you liked to be touched? I asked. Nicely. I said "Please" and you ignored the needs. Yesterday you put up a statue--- a fairy in my Garden that three years ago would have been perfect. Two years ago would have delighted me. One year ago might have been enough. Only I look at her, and wonder if she would be there had I not said I'm leaving. You are trying. I'll not take that from you. But you waited until I no longer wanted the things you kept from me to even start. |
