I lie next to him softly breathing my eyes closed. I pretend to sleep, I think he can tell. Sunlight falls gently through the window as we pretend to nap. He gives me a little kick and I get back hitting him with a pillow. "I thought we both agreed that we are sleeping not playing" I am smiling happy that I am taking a chance even if it has no where to go. My whole body seems to hum. I switch to the other end of the bed so that my head is lying next to his shoulder. Instead of sleeping we discuss all matters of unimportant things. We are almost touching yet are aware of the other's every movement...every breath. "you started it" he says as he bumps me again. I push him back trying to get up the nerve to go farther then this grade school teasing. I am pulled out of my thoughts as he leans closer and gently kisses my lips. My mind is spinning in a thousand different direction's. I am scared and unsure, but feel so connected to him in this moment. My hands wrap around his shoulders "so maybe I should finish it" I whisper as he pulls me closer. I sigh a little and take a chance. After all summer can't last for ever. |
