The blade is sharp fire is hot Broken glass cuts deep The bee stings The pangs of distress in childbirth Scalding hot water burns The stabbing pains of illness The cramps of internal distress The pin pricks and the thorn sticks Acid burns What do they all have in common PAIN DANGER and NEEDED ACTION We all think of pain as something that hurts us but do we ever realize that pain is a good thing it is a warning to help us to take proper action to pull away from the fire's flame to seek shelter from the violent hail storm to prepare for an oncoming birth to avoid bleeding to death to protect our bodies from harm to seek medical help when needed to avoid scalding our bodies to prevent severe burns The lies of a lover Our mate cheating on us Our spouse hitting us Our significant other stealing from us A lover's deception Our loved ones slandering us Maliciously gossiping about us Playing mind games on us Depriving us of sex Abusing us sexually Abusing us mentally Embarassing us Making fun and humiliating us Calling us names Screaming at us Refusing to talk, Long periods of cold silence Berrating us Refusing to forgive us Constantly fighting with us What do they all have in common PAIN DANGER and NEEDED ACTION That's the purpose of pain wether it be physical pain or emotional pain it's the same a trigger to get you to move away from the source of the agony and protect yourself How unfortunate that our Physical Pain Transmittors usually get immediate attention and ACTION while our Emotional Pain Transmittors often get ignored. How sad also, that our Physical Pain teaches us lessons to avoid repeating the pain while our Emotion Pain often teaches us nothing and we keep repeating the same mistakes over and over and over often leaving us unable to respond appropriately.... We have become like the laboratory mouse who gets stung by electrical current every time he tries to leave the cage then when the current is turned off and he can escape he won't He has been conditioned to remain a prisoner of his own pain....... ~ |
