The Boy From My Dreams

Last night as I slept, I dreamt of you,
And how our love is oh, so true.
I dreamt of you singing love songs to me, 
I was so moved by this, I could barely see. 
And all of a sudden, out of sleep I awoke,
That's when it hit me, this was no joke.
Have I told you that we've met before?
I was eight, and you were four.
This isn't made up; this is the truth, 
We've known each other since our youth.
This is how,
I'll tell you now.
One day a stranger stepped into my dream,
He was carrying a double scoop chocolate ice cream.
He walked over to me and held out his hand,
It was natural for me to obey his command.
We frolicked together so happy and free,
I hoped that he would never leave me.
All of a sudden, I was dreaming no more,
My eyes filled with tears, my heart was so sore.
Then so many dreamless nights went by,
No sign of my one and only dreamguy.
And just when I thought he was gone for good, 
He reappeared in my dream, there he stood.  
What a beautiful dream I had on that night,
His presence filled me with such delight.
It's been about twenty some odd years,
That my dreams have been blessed, everytime he appears.
And now that the light has finally been shed, 
I no longer doubt what lies ahead.
At this very moment, it's all become clear,
That you are the stranger I've dreamt of for years.
You are the boy, who became my dreamguy, 
And now that you're here, there's no more good-byes.
I've always loved you with every inch of my heart, 
We're destined to never again be apart.
