posted October 26, 2001 09:35 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sadly Lonesome is a place, named with thought and care, And the people living thereabouts, prefer the lonely air. Now they speak of Her thats walking in the soft coal black of night, Sadly Lonesome has a ghost, you'll know her on first sight. She was fair to look upon, when she wore mortal skin, her hair was dark, her eyes were soft, and lighted from within. They say she had an angel's voice, and some have heard her sing, but she never seeks out mortal men, to chill the hearts they bring. They said she loved once foolishly, the woman made her choice--- and when he left her heart alone, he took with him her voice. Nary another word she said, though she could really speak, she wondered lonely in the hills, her wounded eyes quite bleak. And when she died the people gathered at her grave, instead of naming her foolish, they called her very brave--- for she risked her heart they said, though the risking cost her dear, and that is why she walks these hills, and keeps her spirit near. So when you travel to these parts, Just listen with an ear, and you will hear the sweet low song, that they know very clear. Sadly Lonesome has a ghost, they see her every night, walking in the shadows when the fat fall moon is bright. -------------------- |
