It took just a moment for everything to change for the light and glint in her eye to captivate me. the same green eyes i had seen a thousand days before looked at me in a whole new light and I looked back and for the first time I didn't see my brother's wife my niece's mother my grandmother's nurse I saw a sweet mouth I wanted to taste skin to touch a scent to breathe a neck to bury my face in when the day is long and my temper short. hands that would rub my head a gentle voice in my ear a feeling of being home at last. But it was only a moment before reality took it away. |
