Let Go Of The Past

From deep inside the darkened cavern she peeks through the crack
And peers out onto a violent and, as of yet, unknown land.
She senses another presence scuttling about the barren waste side
And cautiously edges closer to get a better look.

A distant form, barely noticeable on the horizon,
Enters her field of vision and she leans out even further.
Desperate to behold another captured spirit
Trapped in this hellish nightmare of a cold, forgotten world.

The form on the horizon of the violet sun beckons to her
She can vaguely see his hand upheld, waving, enticing.
Her trembling fingers press warily against the crack
Wanting, but not yet willing, to feel the contact of human flesh.

The wind whistles in through the cavity and tickles her fingertips
Tingling ripples of electricity course through her pallid skin.
She pulls back and stares in amazement at the pinkish hue
That is slowly spreading through her hand, up her arm and throughout her body.

Her heart pounding so hard and so loud that she is certain that
He surely must be able to hear it above the storm that is raging on.
Hurriedly she rushes back to the crack and stares with amazement
At the crater that has now appeared, large enough for him to enter
Or her, to exit.

She stands in the aperture and stares in wonder at the prairie
Her eyes drinking in the lush landscape, the warm sun on her neck,
Cool grass under her feet and blue skies above her head.
He approaches and extends his hand toward her battered and broken spirit
She gladly takes hold and flies away.

As always
For My Beau
Thank you so much for setting me free.
I love you, wholly, complelety and forever.
