Pressing my knees into my chest I look out into the overlook Nothing but canyon surrounds me This cavern of my soul My perch chosen carefully Above, around and below It reaches the farthest into the hole How cold the wind blows Throughout this painted valley Whisking the fallen leaves In tornado fashion up the granite walls I pull in tighter enveloping myself A little ball so tightly bound Shivering in the winds of Cloudland Trying to comfort myself Searching for peace in my heart I wanted to bring you here one day To share in the beauty Hiking in Georgia on such a fall day Down to the bottom Where the falls form a pool All alone in total desolation I'd bare myself to you Two become one in perfect rapture Just as we dreamed it So long...finally captured You'll never see it now The dream turned to fantasy A hawk soars by, gliding upon his wings He lunges down low then swoops back up Circling the valley for some easy prey Perhaps it's my hearts blood That taunts his hunger Falling from me and into this hole I miss you my darling And I'm licking my wounds Healing my friend is something I know Goodbye my precious I'll be fine Only time passes slowly When you're not in my life |
