I beseech the gods of amalgamated wisdom custodians of the universe, presiding over life and death whose laughter stirs the winds and voices call the seasons-- Let this alpha of immortals deceive no other woman, either mortal or divine, by his metamorphoses from bull to swan, shower of gold, or cloud of seduction. Endow me now! with life and consciousness, power and passion to ascend Olympus-- loosen his hold and steal his fire for the shivering mortals, then scorch an indispensable path to dishearten future conquests. Dare me not to tempt the Fates, or depart from the mysteries found within myself, for even the most powerful gods are unwilling to trifle with them. They spin the cloth, measure, and cut the thread of life, leave the pawns of immortals to swoon in the afterlife while the hours stand vigil over dark veiled gates granting favored traveler status to and from their secret domain. Though I merit passage to Elysian Fields, I am a martyr to furies in Hades mist, now deaf to prayers, unappeased by sacrifices, and exceedingly disinclined to grant departure. |
